Organic Chemistry I (CHE-211)
A study of the principal classes of aliphatic and aromatic compounds, types of reactions and reaction mechanisms, molecular orbital approach to bonding, and stereo-chemistry. The first semester of a two-semester sequence. Prerequisite: CHE 112 or permission of the Department Chair. 3 lecture and 6 laboratory hours per week. 5 credit hours.
